Affordability

Almost all of our students who apply for financial aid – 99.4% – receive some form of assistance. That means their actual cost to attend is less than the established tuition and fees. That ranks us first among 4-year colleges and universities in Pennsylvania in terms of the average amount of aid awarded.

We're a great value. For the 2025-26 school year, the average financial aid award was:

   $23,426 for Pennsylvania students
   $30,798 for out-of-state students

We also hold the following rankings compared to all public 4-year colleges and universities in Pennsylvania:

  • 4th most affordable room and board plans
  • 3rd highest percentage of students receiving financial aid
  • 10th lowest average graduate student debt

Here are examples of three different kinds of students: an in-state student living on campus, an out-of-state student living on campus, and an in-state student commuting. The examples below are based on the 2025-26 year rates, and will give you an idea of what you may pay. Please note that your actual cost to attend may vary. Use our Net Price Calculator to get a more accurate estimate of your net price.

That means most students paid much less than you might expect for a quality education and a degree from a world-renowned institution.

However, we're not the only ones saying we offer a great value.

  • The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford was previously ranked #12 in Best Value Schools in the North by U.S. News & World Report.
  • We have been ranked among the best baccalaureate colleges in the country and a “Best Bang for the Buck” in the Northeast by Washington Monthly magazine.
  • The Council for Aid to Education previously ranked us No. 4 on a list of colleges that devote the highest percentage of dollars to financial aid
