    Are you a registered nurse looking to advance your education? Your career? Would you like to have a leadership role where you work? Then the RN-BSN program may be for you.

    As a student in our RN-BSN degree program, you'll take a variety of courses. You'll also have many opportunities for hands-on experiences at various locations, including hospitals and doctors' offices and community health settings.

    Admission criteria for RN-BSN Program

    1.  Completed Pitt-Bradford Admission Application
      • Official High School Transcripts
      • Official College/University Transcripts (all schools attended)
      • Copy of current Pennsylvania RN licensure
    2. Licensure is required throughout your enrollment in the program
    3. Minimum cumulative QPA of 2.5
    4. 35 credits of lower-level nursing courses (ASN or diploma) from an approved school
    5. One of the following:
      1. Graduation from an approved associate or diploma program within 3 years before being considered for admission to the RN-BSN program.
      2. Graduation from an approved associate or diploma program more than 3 years ago but with evidence of at least 1,000 hours nursing practice within 3 years prior before being considered for admission to the RN-BSN program. 

    Distance Education at UPB is offered in a variety of ways, including Interactive Television (ITV), Online/web and Hybrid courses. 

    Blackboard Academic Suite is the e-Education Platform employed by the University of Pittsburgh for course management and delivery. Course materials are placed on individual course web sites. A variety of tools (such as the ability to send documents electronically, access grades online, WIKIs), and the ability to communicate electronically through e-mail, discussion boards, BLOGS, and chat may be used within the context of the course.

    Includes all General Education Program requirements with the exception of capstone and upper-level writing requirements.



    Courses in GE: Arts and Letters - 9 Credits

    Course in GE: History - 3 Credits

    Course in GE: History, Cultures, or Philosophical Inquiry - 3 Credits

    Course in statistics

    Please be advised that some programs or courses of study require that students complete rotations, fieldwork, internships/externships and/or teaching assignments at facilities external to the university, while other programs or courses of study may offer voluntary internships or externships at facilities external to the university. Depending on the program or course, such facilities will or may require a criminal background check, an act 33/34 clearance (if applicable), and perhaps a drug screen to determine participant qualification or eligibility. Additionally, in order to become licensed, many states will inquire as to whether the applicant has been convicted of a misdemeanor, a felony, or a felonious or illegal act associated with alcohol and/or substance abuse.

    ROTC-BSN students may receive three credits toward the upper level nursing electives upon successful completion of the ROTC Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) or the ROTC Nursing Summer Training Program (NSTP).
