Admission Requirements for RN-BSN
Admission Criteria for RN-BSN Program
Each year, there are limited seats available for students in the nursing major. Students admitted to the RN-BSN Program shall meet the requirements for admission to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, including submission of transcripts from all post-secondary institutions, as well as the following additional requirements:
- Minimum cumulative Q.P.A. of 2.5 or above. Academic performance in prerequisite courses is a crucial component in admission decisions.
- Completion of 35 credits of lower-level nursing courses (ASN or Diploma) from an approved school.
- Completion of the following General Education credits (or their equivalent) with an earned grade of C- or better:
- ENG 0101 English Composition I 3 cr.
- ENG 0102 English Composition II 3 cr.
- MATH 0110 Fundamentals of Math 3 cr.
- SOC 0101 Introduction to Sociology 3 cr.
- PSY 0101 Introduction to Psychology 3 cr.
- Completion of the following General Education credits (or their equivalent) with an earned grade of C or better:
- BIOL 0212/0222 Anatomy & Physiology I 4 cr.
- BIOL 0213/0223 Anatomy & Physiology II 4 cr.
- BIOL 0202 Microbiology 4 cr.
- CHEM 0103 Chemistry 4 cr.
- One of the following:
- Graduation from an approved/accredited associate or diploma program within 3 years before consideration for admission to the RN-BSN Program
- Graduation from an approved/accredited associate or diploma program more than 3 years ago, but with evidence of at least 1000 hours of nursing practice within 3 years before consideration for admission to the RN-BSN Program.
- Current unencumbered Pennsylvania RN license to practice nursing—active PA-RN licensure must be maintained throughout the student’s enrollment in the program. Interested applicants with a current RN license in another US State or Territory should contact the Nursing Department at 814-362-7683.
