Print to OneNote

Send documents directly to OneNote for digital note-taking and organization. Perfect for reading materials, assignments, and reference documents you want to annotate and keep organized.

How to Print to OneNote

1 Open Your Document

Open the document or file you want to send to OneNote. This could be a Microsoft Word document, a PDF file, a web page in your browser, or any other printable content.

2 Select Print

Select the Print option in the application. This is usually found in the File menu or by pressing Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac).

3 Choose OneNote Printer

From the list of printers, choose:

  • "OneNote – (Desktop)", or
  • "OneNote (Desktop) - Protected"

The exact name may vary depending on your OneNote version and settings.

4 Choose Print

Click Print, and OneNote will open behind your application.

5 Select Destination

In the window that appears, select where you want to send the file within your OneNote notebooks. The content is added as an image on a new OneNote page.

You can now add notes, highlights, and annotations directly on the OneNote page!
