Jetia Azor, a junior from Tobyhanna, Pa, is using her experience studying pre-law at Pitt-Bradford in her position as a legal intern at Zippo Manufacturing Co.

“In my business law course, we are learning about trademarks. That is a big part of my position at Zippo,” she said.

Azor is an English major and legal studies minor who is assisting Zippo’s legal department with trademark-related tasks and legal compliance projects. She serves as a liaison between the legal department and employees on contract matters, identifies and reports infringing e-commerce marketplace postings, and maintains documents in the legal department’s electronic filing system.

Azor was inspired to pursue a career in law after her mother was the victim of medical malpractice following an accident in 2014. She hopes to use her internship experience to help achieve a career in healthcare law to help better the system for people of color.

“My goal is healthcare law, but I really do want to do medical malpractice,” she said.

At Pitt-Bradford, Azor is an active student leader, having helped establish a Pre-Law Club on campus where she serves as president. She and 15 other students are hoping to use the club as a shared resource to study for the LSAT exam.

She also serves as president of the National Society of Leadership and Success and Book Club and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Blue and Gold Society and Pep Band. She further contributes to the campus community by helping international students on campus through the Visa Mentor program.
