Abby Chapman ’27
Computer Information Systems and Technology major

Abby Chapman, a junior computer information systems and technology major from Canonsburg, spent spring break 2025 on a life-changing study abroad trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland.
As the only Pitt-Bradford student among 13 participants, Chapman immersed herself in a weeklong academic and cultural experience focused on Irish history, peacebuilding, and reconciliation.
The group explored Derry, Belfast, and Dublin, visiting sites like the Giant’s Causeway, Glenveagh Castle and the Belfast Falls Road Murals, where she left her own message of hope. Along the way, she connected with local students, learned a bit of Irish dance, and even visited Game of Thrones filming locations.
“I’ve always had an interest in seeing other parts of the world,” Chapman said. “I am so honored to have had the opportunity to go and meet so many people -- from the people on the other Pitt campuses to the wonderful people in Northern Ireland and Ireland.”
She returned home with a deeper understanding of international conflict, newfound friendships, and a broadened perspective on the world — one she’ll carry with her long after graduation.
