Youth summer camps planned
Swimming, puppetry, soccer and lots of volleyball on tap
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold athletic camps and an art camp this summer for youth age 8-18.

The summer gets started June 8-12 with a Competitive Training and Swim Camp for students entering grades 7-12. Camp takes place from 8 a.m. to noon daily in the Duke Aquatics Center of the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center. Cost covers T-shirt and snacks.
This technique and training camp is intended for experienced competitive swimmers looking to take their skills to the next level. Training will include high-quality technical instruction, stroke development, video analysis, supplemental dry land instruction and racing strategies. The clinic will be taught by the Pitt-Bradford swimming coaching staff and current collegiate athletes.
Campers should bring their own goggles, swimsuit, cap, towel(s), snorkel, fins, kickboard, pull buoy, tennis shoes, dry land attire and water bottle.
Junior Lifeguard Camp for swimmers age 11-14 will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22-26 in the aquatics center.
This camp will hone water safety skills and prepare swimmers to become future lifeguards. Students with strong swimming skills will learn about water safety, rescue skills, how to perform CPR and use an AED as well as what it takes to become a certified lifeguard.
Cost includes a T-shirt. Students should pack their own lunch, swimsuit, towels and dry clothes.
Volleyball camps begin June 29. Camps are for players aged 12 to 18, unless otherwise noted:
June 29-July 1, All Skills Overnight Camp – For ages 10-18. Train with nine-time New York State Champion and Head Coach of Pitt-Bradford volleyball, Kelly Unverdorben. This elite camp delivers high-level competition and instruction from one of the most successful coaches in New York State History. Players will sharpen skills, elevate volleyball IQ and gain confidence in a motivating environment alongside current Pitt-Bradford players. Registration deadline is June 19.
July 6-7, Volleyball Setter Camp – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, KOA Arena, McDowell Sport and Fitness Center. Includes T-shirt. Pack your own lunch. Experienced setters will train advanced techniques, while beginners focus on core skills in a modern setting.
July 8-9, Volleyball Libero/Passing Camp -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, KOA Arena, McDowell Sport and Fitness Center. Includes T-shirt. Pack your own lunch. Experienced players will train advanced passing, defense, and serve-receive techniques, while beginners will learn modern fundamentals.
July 21-22, Volleyball Hitters’ Camp – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, KOA Arena, McDowell Sport and Fitness Center. Includes T-shirt. Pack your own lunch. This hitters’ camp focuses on power training, improved mechanics, and advanced court placement.
July 31-Aug. 2, Volleyball Team Overnight Camp -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, KOA Arena, McDowell Sport and Fitness Center. Includes T-shirt. Players will sharpen their skills, elevate their volleyball IQ, and gain confidence. Registration required by July 17.
Creative Characters – Puppetry Camp will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 13-17 for students ages 12-17. Create your own characters and their stories! Learn about what drives a character and their motives - is it emotions? Their history? Their environments? Then, we'll build your creations through different methods of puppetry! Think everything from sock puppets, cardboard, to more unique and complex creations! Throughout the week we'll tell your stories and build your characters. Join us to work on your storytelling and let your creativity come alive!
Finally, Youth Soccer Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20-July 23 at Rathburn Family Field at the Kessel Athletic Complex. Campers should bring lunch, water bottle, sunscreen and spikes.
This is for all levels of youth players between 8-13 years of age to develop their skills. Campers will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, and game strategy through fast paced drills and exciting scrimmages. Camp will be led by head coaches and collegiate student athletes.
