Giant art installation to take place on campus in 2027

The Friends of Hanley Library will host “Trolls in the Forest,” a program by Rustin Lippincott of the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau and Trail Central, at noon Thursday, Nov. 5, in the University Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

Lippincott will discuss Trail Central’s efforts to bring three giant, hand-built trolls by Thomas Dambo, a renowned Danish environmental artist, to Bradford, Kane and the Allegheny National Forest.

The trolls stand 30 to 36 feet tall and are constructed of recycled and reclaimed materials. Dambo’s works are on display in 20 countries as part of an international project, with 191 trolls in all. The McKean County installation would be the first permanent one in Pennsylvania.

Lippincott will also outline how area residents can get involved in the project and what it will mean for the region.

The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

More information about the project is available at PA Central Trolls.
