Dr. Jerry Clark, the former FBI agent who investigated an Erie crime that is the basis for Netflix's four-part series “Evil Genius,” will speak on campus Oct. 25.

Clark's talk will take place at 7 p.m. in the Mukaiyama University Room of the Frame-Westerberg Commons. The talk is free and open to the public.

Clark was the lead investigator for a bizarre 2003 bank robbery in Erie that is the basis for the Netflix series “Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist.”

Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong was convicted for orchestrating the robbery. The case is frequently called the “Pizza Bomber” or “Collar Bomb” case because the robbers ordered a pizza, then attached a bomb to the deliveryman's neck with the instructions for him to rob a bank and bring them the money in order to save his life. The deliveryman died in the bank parking lot when the bomb exploded.

Clark has written three books that touch on the case: “Pizza Bomber: The Untold Story of America's Most Shocking Bank Robbery,” “A History of Heists: Bank Robbery in America,” and “Mania and Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong: Inside the Mind of a Female Serial Killer.”

Clark is currently an associate professor of criminal justice at Gannon University and a principal partner with Clark and Wick Investigations. He has 27 years of experience in local and federal law enforcement, including as serving as a special agent with the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

He retired from the FBI's Pittsburgh division in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, a Master of Arts in forensic psychology and a doctorate in public safety with a specialization in criminal justice.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of Hanley Library, the Nontraditional Student Association, the Criminal Justice Club and Jennifer and Josh Blotzer.
