Short Bio

Dr. Ahmed earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Clemson University in South Carolina. Trained as a microbial ecologist, he has worked with metagenomic and metatranscriptomic datasets from estuarine environments. Before joining Bradford, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at Florida International University. Prior to his graduate studies, he worked at the International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b).

Dr. Ahmed loves teaching microbiology to young people. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling with his wife, playing with his two cats—Toontoon and Nemo—walking in nature, and collecting old books.
