Opening Reception: February 19, 2026, Noon

Rite in Ash is an installation examining destruction as a form of creation through mark-making, catharsis, and constructive community. Focusing on the historical mark of Devil’s Night in Detroit and its mythological reach throughout the rust belt, the exhibition explores abstracted images of house fires set by residents on the fateful night, framing them as acts of observance marking the collapse of the rust belt’s social and economic ecosystem.

Jeremy Tarr was born to a blue-collar family and raised in the working-class neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jeremy works as an instructor at Syracuse University teaching digital sculpture in the studio arts concentration and as a technical fabricator in the School of Architecture. He received his MFA at Syracuse University and has exhibited domestically and internationally in Pittsburgh, Berlin, Italy, NYC, and LA. Jeremy has been an artist in residence at the Axel Haubrok Fahrbereitschaft in Berlin and Governors Island, NYC.

Jeremy’s work is informed by the landscape of the Appalachian rust belt and its mythologies. At the core of his practice is the presence of the empty, the physicality of the immaterial, and the complexities of unknowing as a means of liberation. jeremytarr.com
