La Marimba presents an original take on traditional music of Mexico and Central America. The marimba— "the wood that sings"—is a favorite instrument in this region and is commonly found accompanying dance and helping to make celebrations memorable. Members of La Marimba have studied in Chiapas, Mexico, and the group brings its knowledge and insights to this remarkable music. The audience will be treated to lilting melodies, dancing rhythms, and inspired improvisation.
