Academic Focus:

Joshua Groffman is a composer, performer, and music theorist, teaching courses in music fundamentals, appreciation, and music in film, as well as a seminar on interdisciplinary arts.  He also directs the Vocal Arts Ensemble.  

Short Bio:

Joshua Groffman's works have been performed by the American Composers Orchestra, Ensemble Laboratorium, Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, New York New Music Collective, Ars Musica Chorale, Bard College Vocal Arts Program, Delaware Valley Chorale, Duo 231, Indiana University Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, and the Cornell University Chamber Singers, and selected for performance at the Aspen Music Festival, June in Buffalo, SEAMUS National Conference, Florida State University New Music Festival, Cal State Fullerton New Music Festival, the CUNY POP! Conference, Midwest Composers Symposium, and the 60×60 VoxNovus East Coast Mix.  As a theorist, Dr. Groffman's work focuses on issues of form and temporality in the contemporary repertoire, with a special focus on French spectralism.
