TRIO student awarded statewide scholarship

The Pennsylvania Association of TRIO Programs has awarded a $750 PA TRIO Scholarship to sophomore Adam Williams, a chemistry major and pre-medicine student from Orlando, Fla.

His TRIO advisor, Erik Austin, nominated Williams.

“We felt that Adam's excellent academic performance, drive and motivation to succeed made him a strong candidate for the award,” Austin said.

TRIO Student Support Services is a U.S. Department of Education-funded program that provides higher education to historically underrepresented groups of students, such as students who are first generation students, income eligible or have a documented disability.

Pitt-Bradford's TRIO SSS program has provided guidance and support to students since 2005 and currently serves more than 160 students.
