Social Media Accessibility Guidelines
Alternative Text: All images must include "Alt Text" descriptions so screen reader users can understand the visual content.
CamelCase Hashtags: Always capitalize the first letter of every word in a hashtag (e.g., use #HigherEdAccessibility instead of #higheredaccessibility) so screen readers can distinguish individual words.
Captioned Video: All videos posted must have accurate, synchronized captions. If using auto-captioning tools, you must manually edit them for accuracy before posting.
Emoji Use: Avoid using "emoji strings" (multiple emojis in a row) and do not place emojis in the middle of a sentence, as screen readers will read the full text description of every emoji aloud, which can disrupt the message you’re trying to convey.
Link Clarity: Use descriptive text for links rather than "Click Here." If a link leads to a video or a PDF, include a label like “Video” or “PDF” at the end of the post for file clarity.
