Softball pitching and catching clinic

When: Sunday, February 24, 2013 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Where: Sport and Fitness Center

Description:

Coach Tina Phillips and members of the softball team will work with participants on various drills, including the basics of pitching motion, catching techniques and reading batters.


The clinic will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The registration deadline is Wed., Feb. 20, and the cost is $30. Checks should be made payable to the University of Pittsburgh. Participants need to bring sneakers (no cleats), glove and catcher’s equipment (optional).

 

Phillips has guided the Panthers to four AMCC titles in the last nine years and three NCAA Division III tournament appearances.

Crime Solving 101 with Dr. Tony Gaskew, director of the criminal justice program at Pitt-Bradford, is designed for campers aged 13 to 18 and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon June 17-20 on campus, including Pitt-Bradford’s Crime Scene Investigation House.

            Students will be exposed to a variety of hands-on methods and strategies used to conduct a criminal investigation, including understanding the criminal justice system, learning about probable cause and case law, obtaining and writing search and arrest warrants, interviewing skills, studying forensic photography and more. Cost of the program is $89, but full scholarships are available for students who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
