Position Title: Retention Specialist 

Position Status:  Full-time - 10 months (August-May)  

Qualifications and Requirements: 

Master’s degree in higher education, counselor education, education or related field required; knowledge of academic counseling and adult learning is essential.  Individuals with program management experience related to multiculturalism and/or issues related to campus diversity are of particular interest.  Experience providing academic advising, career planning, course instruction, group and workshop facilitation, counseling, the ADA and Section 504 preferred.  Applicants must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry software and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.  A minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in successfully providing student support services in a post-secondary setting required.

Position Information: 

This positions is full-time 10-month and subject to ongoing U.S. Department of Education funding.

Responsibilities: 

Responsible for delivering direct academic support services, in  individual, group and classroom settings, to a diverse student population who are low income, first generation, and/or disabled students.  Assist Program Manager with data tracking and entry, program development, grant compliance and participating students’ retention.
