Course Description:
This course covers literature from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Asian subcontinent from the period of colonization to the present. It examines the literature in the context of empire, independence, ethnicity, religion, and national identity. It draws on contemporary works in postcolonial theory by Said, Ngugi, Chatterjee, Zizek, Achebe, Jameson, and others.
