During her time at St.
Bonaventure, she taught composition and critical thinking and tutored in the
Plassmann Writing Center. She has been teaching composition and poetry at the
University of Pittsburgh at Bradford since Fall 2012. Mary enjoys working as a
writing center consultant because she values sharing conversations with student
writers about their work to identify students’ goals in writing center
sessions. She specializes in American literature, and especially enjoys writing
ab
out poetry, as Harlem Renaissance poet Claude McKay was
the subject of her Master’s thesis. Mary also likes brainstorming and
organizing ideas for all kinds of papers, so if you’re not sure how to begin an
assignment, make an appointment with Mary!
