BRADFORD, Pa. – Pitt-Bradford baseball player Joe Chittester
has been named to the 2014 Valley League All-Star roster as a member of the South
team. He will serve as the squad’s designated hitter.
Chittester, a member of the Valley League’s New Market
Rebels, has been outstanding this summer at the plate. To date, Chittester has
tallied 16 hits in 52 plate appearances for a .308 average. That number places
him among the top 20 hitters in the league.
He currently has four doubles to go with eight RBI. He’s
walked 11 times this summer and recorded two stolen bases.
In the field, Chittester has seen action at first base and
is responsible for 23 putouts and one assist. He carries a .960 fielding
percentage and has just one error to his name.
The Rebels hold a 7-16 record this summer and sit 10 games
behind the league-leading Front Royal Cardinals, owners of an 18-7 record.
As a Panther, Chittester finished his junior season in 2014
second on the team in batting average with a .304. He recorded 34 hits in 112
appearances at the plate and scored 24 runs. He tallied six doubles and cracked
two home runs.
He was the anchor at first base and finished with a .975 fielding
percentage and was responsible for nine assists and a team-high 189 putouts. He
was also a perfect 1-for-1 in stolen bases.
