The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference has selected
two Pitt-Bradford student-athletes to its weekly Player of the Week awards
list. Freshman Elizabeth Prager was selected as the women’s swimmer of the
week, while junior Sarah Foley was selected for bowling.
Prager has been outstanding in the 1650 free this season,
and she was no different at the Fredonia State Invitational that took place in
Fredonia, N.Y., over the weekend. In a field of more than 30 competitors, she
qualified for the finals against stiff competition.
In the finals, she secured the Panthers’ top placing when
she claimed the fourth place spot, finishing with a time of 18:37.08.
On the second day of the meet, Prager found herself in the
200 back final where she finished in fourth place for the second time in as
many events. She clocked in at 2:11.17.
Foley and the bowling team competed in a head-to-head match
with Medaille on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and the Panthers were able to collect the
sweep of the Mavericks.
Foley bowled a combined 423 in two games during the Dual
Match portion of the contest. The Panthers went on to defeat Medaille
1695-1473. Foley hit a game-high 240 in the second game.
Pitt-Bradford prepares to enter the holiday season as the
student-athletes wrap up finals later this week.
The swim teams are back in action on Friday, Jan. 10, when
they travel to Steubenville, Ohio, to take on Franciscan and Frostburg in a
tri-meet. The first event starts at 6 p.m.
The bowling team returns to the lanes on Saturday, Jan. 11,
as it prepares for a conference quad-meet at Medaille. First bowler hits the
lane at 1 p.m.
