The Pitt-Bradford men’s and women’s basketball teams will be
hosting a toy drive in honor of the holidays to assist with the YWCA shelter on
Saturday, Dec. 14. All toys donated and all proceeds go directly to the YWCA
and the children in its programs.
The athletic department will be taking all donations from
now until the night of the 14th. The basketball teams will be
hosting Penn State Altoona. The men begin at 1 p.m. and the women begin at 3 p.m.
The children range in age from two to 10 years old. All toys
and games donated are asked to be fitting for these age groups.
The YWCA asks that the toys not be of a violent nature.
Also, for health reasons, please do not donate any stuffed animals for fear of
allergies. This is very helpful to not only the agency but also the mothers as
they don’t always have the money to buy gifts.
The toys do not need to be wrapped as the YWCA will handle
all other duties.
Please consider donating one toy to those less fortunate to
brighten the holidays for a child this season.
At halftime of each game, the Bradford Youth Basketball
League will participate in a 10 minute scrimmage on the court.
The league is made up of 150 kids from the Bradford area.
Coaches will divide the participants into separate teams that will hit the
court minutes after the halftime buzzer.
