Pitt-Bradford holds on for 72-68 victory

Senior Brandon McClester

Dallas, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men’s basketball team entered the final 30 seconds of their match with Marywood clinging to a two point victory. The Panthers dug deep and gritted out a 72-68 victory on the road Saturday.

Lone senior Brandon McClester led all Panthers with 22 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Pitt-Bradford (1-1, 0-0) opened the game with a sense of urgency, looking to erase the memory of the previous outing the night before.

The Panthers drained 14-of-32 from the field and 3-of-9 from behind the arc.

Pitt-Bradford controlled the tempo for much of the first half. The two teams entered halftime with the Panthers leading 33-29.

Marywood (0-2, 0-0) was only able to find the net once from behind the arc.

The Pacers were led by Kendall Harris who finished the night with 23 points, 11 rebounds and two assists to complete the double-double.

Pitt-Bradford had four players score in double figures on the night. Lucas Pichette and Eric Matheson each finished with 14 points. Tyler Fantaskey had 13.

“Playing two games in two nights is never easy, but we responded to the challenge,” said head coach Britt Moore. “We did a great job defensively mixing up man and zone and were able to slow them down. Everyone who played really contributed to the win.”

Pitt-Bradford hits the road again on Wednesday, Nov. 20, as the Panthers travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to take on Westminster at 7 p.m.
