The Pitt-Bradford women’s bowling team finished the weekend
3-1 in the two matches they hosted at the Byllye Lanes. The Panthers welcomed
Mount Aloysius on Saturday Nov. 9 and Penn State Altoona on Sunday Nov. 10.
Pitt-Bradford (9-9) began the weekend with a solid
performance against conference-foe Mount Aloysius. The Panthers finished with a
total pinfall of 2333 in the Dual match portion of the meet, due to Sarah
Foley’s 279 during game three. Foley bowled a strike on every frame except the
third, which ultimately kept her from a perfect game. Her total pinfall of 601
was a team and program-high in this inaugural season.
Meghan Ryan finished behind Foley with 526 pins knocked
down, and in third was Brittany Macrina with 476 pins.
In the Baker format, the Blue and Gold tallied a 595 in
total pinfall, compared to the Mounties 429. The win gave the Panthers the
sweep of Mount Aloysius and a 2-0 start to the weekend’s competition.
On Sunday, Pitt-Bradford was back in the lanes competing
against visiting Penn State Altoona. The Panthers were off to a fast start with
a win in the Dual match portion of the meet with a pinfall total of 2217.
Sarah Foley again tallied the largest number of pins taken
down at 572. Coming in second this time was Brittany Macrina with a final of
501. In third was Meghan Ryan, who knocked down 498 pins.
Pitt-Bradford headed to the Baker format 3-0 and a chance
for a weekend sweep. The Panthers were outmatched in this round though, as
Altoona finished with 652 pins taken down compared to Pitt-Bradford’s 565. The
Panthers struggled to find consistency in the first few games before winning
the final game 189-163.
Pitt-Bradford heads to Altoona, Pa., on Saturday Nov. 16, in
the first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team-meet this season. The
time is TBA.
