Pitt-Bradford freshman forward Melissa Smith was named the
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference offensive player of the week for
soccer, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Smith erupted on the field last week to post two hat tricks
to lead the Panthers to a pair of AMCC wins. She has currently tallied three
hat tricks in three consecutive games dating back to an Oct. 12 victory over
Penn State Altoona.
Smith has found the back of the net 18 times this season to
lead the Panthers in goals scored. She is currently tied for first on the team
with three assists this year and has a team-best 39 points overall. Her 38
shots on goal this season are also good for first on the squad.
The Panthers currently sit one game out of first place in
AMCC play with a 5-1 record. They hold a 9-4-1 record overall.
Pitt-Bradford hosts the Lions of Penn State Behrend on
Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Kessel Athletic Complex at 3 p.m.
