Alessandro Ortiz and Amadou Sow each scored a goal, and the
Pitt-Bradford Panthers shut out D’Youville 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Pitt-Bradford (4-7, 1-2) earned its first conference win of
the season and put itself in great position to make a run at the conference
championship. The Panthers outshot the Spartans 17-10.
At the 20-minute mark, Nathan Fox sent a pass to Sow who
drove the ball into the net for the early 1-0 lead. The Panthers carried the
lead and the momentum into halftime.
In the second half, Ortiz slipped away from a defender and
moved the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Panthers the 2-0 advantage.
Pitt-Bradford goalkeeper Adam Forster registered four saves
and forward Bryan McCoy led the team with three shots on goal.
“It was a great result against a very well coached and well
organized team,” said head coach Darek Panol. “We stuck to our game plan and
were able to get a much needed win in conference play. Now we need to get ready
for Penn State Altoona and work to put together a winning streak.”
The Panthers host Penn State Altoona on Saturday, Oct. 12,
at 1 p.m. at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
