The Pitt-Bradford volleyball team opened conference play 2-0
this weekend after defeating La Roche 3-2, and Mount Aloysius 3-1.
Pitt-Bradford (6-11, 2-0) defeated La Roche 25-23, 14-25,
20-26, 25-17 and 15-12. Taylor McMillen registered 17 kills during the match,
and Kelsey Repke tallied 23 digs. Brittany Cumberland had 30 assists and five
service aces with 17 digs. The two teams finished the fourth set tied at two
In game five, Kim Daughtry recorded five kills to give the
Panthers the 15-12 win and seal the victory.
Pitt-Bradford defeated Mount Aloysius in the second game,
23-25, 27-25, 25-17 and 25-14. McMillen tallied 16 digs, Cumberland had 25
assists and Repke led the Panthers with 22 digs.
“This was a great way to open conference play. I think the
strength of schedule we have played so far gave us the confidence to come back
in the La Roche match. We still gave away some easy points, but our offense is
beginning to click, and we are passing the ball better. Kelsey did a nice job
out there,” said head coach Tina Phillips.
The Panthers host Alfred University Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the
Kessel Athletic Center at 7 p.m. The team will resume conference play Saturday,
Oct. 5, when they travel to Franciscan for a 2 p.m. match.
