Panther's second half rally falls short in 3-2 defeat

The Pitt-Bradford men’s soccer team tallied two goals late in the second half, but it wasn’t enough, as La Roche defeated the Panthers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh.

Pitt-Bradford (3-6, 0-1) goalkeeper Adam Forster notched 16 saves after the Redhawks registered 31 shots on goal. Despite numerous attacks in the first half, the Panthers allowed just one goal and went to halftime down 1-0.

La Roche (4-6, 1-0) took possession early in the second half, and it didn’t take long before Bryan Weimerskirch received a pass from Chad Trozzi and placed the ball in the net from outside the box.

Down 3-0 late in the game, the Redhawks misplayed a ball on the throw in. Pitt-Bradford’s Nathan Fox took advantage of the mistake and drove a shot into the back of the net to get the Panthers on the board.

At the 83-minute mark, Panthers forward Jeler Mendez brought Pitt-Bradford within one off a pass from midfielder Brian Bao.

The late rally wouldn’t be enough though as the clock ran out on the Panthers and their comeback attempt.

Pitt-Bradford will host Mt. Aloysius next Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Kessel Athletic Complex at 1 p.m.
