Women's Tennis downs Medaille 5-4


The Pitt-Bradford women’s tennis team defeated Medaille 5-4 on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

Pitt-Bradford (2-8, 2-5) began doubles play with Emily Fowkes and Shaina Reddinger defeated 8-2. Stephanie Krall and Jamie VanAlstine defeated the Mavericks in game two, 8-3. Tied at one each, Constance Cui and Amy Thomas took game three by a final score of 8-3. 

Medaille (3-8, 2-6) began singles play defeating Fowkes 6-2, 6-0, and Reddinger 6-1, 7-6 (11). Krall secured the Panthers first singles victory by taking game three 6-0, 6-1. Medaille came back in game four to defeat VanAlstine 6-2, 6-2.

Cui ran away with her singles match defeating the Mavericks 6-2, 6-4. Thomas’s 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory in the final game sealed the win for the Panthers.

“As a team we maintained our self-confidence and positive attitude throughout the match. It came down to the sixth singles match played by Amy. She stayed focused and played one point at a time,” said head coach Susan Schenfield.

Pitt-Bradford returns to the courts Monday, Sept. 30, for a match against D’Youville at the KAC beginning at 4 p.m.
