The Pitt-Bradford volleyball team fell in
five sets 3-2 to Allegheny on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Meadville, Pa.
Pitt-Bradford (4-11) dropped game one 24-26 before
rebounding in the second game to win game two, 25-23. Knotted at one each, the
two squads battled back and forth through game three before Allegheny stole the
The Panthers, led by Taylor McMillen’s 16 kills during the
match, stormed back in the fourth set to take a 25-22 win and force game five.
Allegheny (7-9) took control early in game five and defeated
the Panthers 15-8 to complete the victory 3-2. Julia Weeks led the Gators with
12 kills, and teammate Bailey Gawley was close behind with 11.
Pitt-Bradford’s Kelsey Repke tallied 24 digs during the
match, and Brittni Cumberland notched 36 assists.
“We did a lot of
good things tonight,” said Head Coach Tina Phillips. “This group still needs to
find a way to win and close out games. We need to figure that out soon with the
AMCC play starting this weekend.”
Pitt-Bradford opens conference play on Saturday, Sept. 28,
in Cresson, Pa. The team will compete in a two-game series with Mt. Aloysius
and La Roche beginning at 2 p.m.
