Volleyball drops 3-2 decision at Allegheny

The Pitt-Bradford volleyball team fell in five sets 3-2 to Allegheny on Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Meadville, Pa. 

Pitt-Bradford (4-11) dropped game one 24-26 before rebounding in the second game to win game two, 25-23. Knotted at one each, the two squads battled back and forth through game three before Allegheny stole the decision 28-26.

The Panthers, led by Taylor McMillen’s 16 kills during the match, stormed back in the fourth set to take a 25-22 win and force game five.

Allegheny (7-9) took control early in game five and defeated the Panthers 15-8 to complete the victory 3-2. Julia Weeks led the Gators with 12 kills, and teammate Bailey Gawley was close behind with 11.

Pitt-Bradford’s Kelsey Repke tallied 24 digs during the match, and Brittni Cumberland notched 36 assists.   

“We did a lot of good things tonight,” said Head Coach Tina Phillips. “This group still needs to find a way to win and close out games. We need to figure that out soon with the AMCC play starting this weekend.”

Pitt-Bradford opens conference play on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Cresson, Pa. The team will compete in a two-game series with Mt. Aloysius and La Roche beginning at 2 p.m.
