Houghton defeated the Pitt-Bradford women's soccer team 1-0 Tuesday afternoon. It was the Panthers' second straight loss.
Despite the Highlanders outshooting Pitt-Bradford 10-1 in the first half, the game remained scoreless in the opening 45 minutes. In the 62nd minute, Houghton's Stephany Ellison received a pass near the top of the box and scored in the left corner.
The Panthers best chance came in the 70th minute, but Melissa Smith's shot struck the post and Catherine Mammoser attempt on the rebound sailed wide. Smith's header in the 74th minute was stopped by Houghton's Shawna Sprout.
The Highlanders outshot Pitt-Bradford 21-4 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Danielle Erdley earned the loss in net while collecting seven saves.
Pitt-Bradford drops to 3-2 on the year and travels to Alfred Wednesday.
