Baseball, Greensburg meet in AMCC tourney

Complete game notes

Pitt-Bradford will entertain Pitt-Greensburg Saturday in the first round of the AMCC tournament.

It will be a best-of-three series with the winner advancing to next week’s championship round at Penn State Behrend.

The Panthers are appearing in the conference tourney for the second straight year. They went 4-2 in their final six league games to secure home field advantage as the No. 4 seed. Overall, they were 9-7 against AMCC teams.

Greensburg enters the matchup as the fifth seed after finishing with an AMCC mark of 8-8. The two teams split the regular season meeting in Bradford on April 14, with both games being decided by a run.

This is just third meeting all-time in the AMCC tourney between the two Pitt schools. Coincidentally, both matchups have come in the first round series with Pitt-Bradford prevailing in both instances.

The Panthers swept the Bobcats in 2008 and won in three games in 2005.

The winner of Saturday’s best-of-three series will advance to meet top-seeded Penn State Behrend in the championship round next Thursday.
