Baseball set for busy weekend

Complete game notes

The Pitt-Bradford baseball team resumes its season this weekend when it opens AMCC play Friday against the Medaille Mavericks.

The Panthers have not played since returning from their Spring Break trip to Florida. In their last outing, they smacked Nichols 11-1. That game was played on March 18, more than two weeks ago.

Pitt-Bradford opened the season with five straight losses before rebounding to go 4-1 in its final five games in Florida. During that stretch, the team had a 3.65 earned run average compared to a mark of nine through the first five games.

The Blue and Gold travel to Fredonia State Saturday and return home Sunday to host Penn State Behrend.

Pitt-Bradford was picked to finish third in the league with Pitt-Greensburg while Behrend was a close second to defending champion La Roche.

Through the first 10 games, reigning AMCC Player of the Year Derek Smith is hitting .500 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.
