The Pitt-Bradford softball team split with North Park (Ill.) and Dallas (Texas ) Friday morning at Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Panthers opened the day with a 3-0 setback to North Park. They managed just three hits and failed to move a runner in scoring position all game.
Sydney Mosby suffered the loss, yielding three runs, one earned, on eight hits. She walked one and struck out nine, including six looking. Lauren Hogue had two of the team's three hits.
Pitt-Bradford bounced back by ripping Dallas 17-0 in five innings. The Panthers pounded out a season-high 16 hits and took advantage of seven errors.
Jamie Winzeler and Hogue keyed the offensive burst. Winzeler went 3-3 with four RBIs, including a bases-clearing double in the 10-run third, and Hogue chipped in with three hits while driving home two runs.
Krista Jacobs earned the win on the mound. She surrendered just two hits and has yet to allow an earned run in 14 innings pitched this year.
Pitt-Bradford improves to 3-5 on the year and wraps up its Spring Break trip Sunday with games against Nichols (Mass.) and New England (Maine).
