Pitt-Bradford sophomore women's basketball player Alicia Kimmel was named the AMCC Player of the Week Monday. She was the second straight Panther to win the award.
Kimmel led Pitt-Bradford to three victories last week to help the Panthers close out the regular season on a five-game winning streak and set the record for most conference wins-13-in school history. She averaged 20 points, six rebounds and shot 51 percent from the floor for the week.
In a 15-point win over D'Youville, she scored a career-high 27 points and finished a rebound shy of her third double-double. Against Medaille, Kimmel totaled a game-high 23 points to help the Panthers snap an 18-game losing skid to the Mavericks. It was the program's first-ever win over Medaille in AMCC play. She closed out the week tallying 11 points in a blowout victory over Franciscan.
In three games, she was 15-17 from the free throw line, boosting her conference-leading average to 87 percent. She ranks in the top 20 nationally in free throw percentage.
The Pine Grove, Pa., native received the conference's weekly award for the first time in her career.
Pitt-Bradford hosts Mount Aloysius Tuesday at 7 p.m. in an AMCC quarterfinal contest.
