Swim teams close out regular season with losses to Notre Dame

The Pitt-Bradford swimming teams wrapped up the regular season Saturday at home against Notre Dame College. The men lost 106-86 and the women fell 138-42.
The men were led by event winners Matt Anderson in the 100 back and Matt Patterson in the 500 free.

Runner-up finishes included David Taylor in the 1,000 free, Josh Anderson in the 50 free, Alex Schrock in the 200 free, Patterson in the 200 IM, and Alex Renwick in the 100 fly.

Third-place finishers for the Panthers were Conner Hoeflich in the 100 back and 200 IM, Taylor in the 500 free, Josh Anderson in the 100 breast, Richie Brand in the 50 free, Anderew Koenig in the 100 fly and Matt Cox in the 200 free.

Both the men’s 400 medley and 400 free relay teams took second.

The women were paced by Melinda Mackenzie, who took second in the 1,000 free, and the 400 medley and 400 free relay squads that also finished second.

In other results, Katharine O’Neil was third in the 100 breast, Devon Welch took third in the 100 and 200 free swims, and Rachel Confer was third in the 200 IM. Other third-place finishes for the women included Wehonna Toth in the 100 back and Sam Smith in the 100 fly.

The Panthers celebrated the careers of seniors Matt and Josh Anderson, Taylor, Schrock and Mackenzie prior to the start of the meet.

Pitt-Bradford will compete in the AMCC Championships starting on Feb. 14.
