Executive Speaker Series

Timothy J. Finan, president and chief executive officer of Upper Allegheny Health System, will speak March 28 at Pitt-Bradford as part of its Executive Speaker Series.

Finan will speak from 11 a.m. to noon in the Mukaiyama University Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons. The event is free and open to the public.

In 2009, Upper Allegheny was created as the parent company of Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital.

Finan will discuss the impetus for the integration of these two hospitals, the process to build a new integrated health care system and innovative approaches to rural services. He will also offer insights into emerging careers in the health care industry.

The Board of Directors of Upper Allegheny appointed Finan president and CEO of the health system in December 2009. Prior to that, he had been president and CEO of Olean General since 2006.

Before coming to Olean General, Finan held a variety of health care leadership positions, including serving as president and CEO of Niagara Falls Medical Center from 1991 to 1996 and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Univera Healthcare, a health maintenance organization serving Western and Central New York, from 1996 until 2005.

Raised in Allegany, N.Y., Finan earned his bachelor’s degree at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., and holds a master’s degree in hospital administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is a New York state-licensed nursing home administrator and a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Finan has lived in East Aurora, N.Y., since 1987 and is a member of various professional and community organizations, including the Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, the Western New York March of Dimes, the United Way of Cattaraugus County and the St. Bonaventure University Board of Trustees.

The Executive Speaker Series is sponsored by the Pitt-Bradford entrepreneurship and business management programs.
