A survey of the major American writers of prose and poetry from the 1870s to the present, including the works of William Dean Howells, Mark Twain, Emily Dickinson, Henry James, T.S. Eliot, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Carlos Williams, and Norman Mailer.
