Egypt was one of the earliest cradles of civilization. The country’s political, social, philosophical, and religious contributions profoundly shaped and influenced the emerging Mediterranean world that we have become accustomed to refer to as the ancient world. Through the millennia that transpired, Egypt passed through its predynastic, old kingdom, feudal age, middle kingdom, hyksos intrusion, new kingdom, late pharaonic period, Assyrian conquest, Persian period, Alexandrian liberation, Ptolemaic, and Roman and Byzantine periods before the curtain was closed on ancient world.
