Freshman venture out into the world of business

Students create and manage their own companies, products and profits

Venture: noun; to take a risk; to dare. That’s exactly what some Pitt-Bradford students did during their year as past student of the Freshman Seminar.

In the Venture Out class, they developed a business, conducted market research, and created and sold a product. Others, some of who have never ventured beyond their own state, traveled to Toronto, Canada to get a feel for a different country, its people, its culture, and its sights and sounds.

“These were important experiences for the students, said Dr. Brian Vander Schee, assistant professor of business management and director of the Freshman Seminar program.

“It’s our job as college professors to introduce those new ideas and experiences to them.”
