Medical, dental, and vision plans, and flexible spending accounts (FSA) are pre-tax selections. Employee costs reduce federal income and Social Security taxes. Employee costs also reduce state income taxes, except for a Dependent Day Care FSA which is an after-state income tax election. The University contribution for medical insurance includes a $50 monthly benefit credit which is taxable Added Income (cash in lieu of pre-tax benefits) if medical insurance is waived and the credit is not used for other pre-tax selections. Group term life, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and group term dependent life insurance are after-tax selections.

DENTAL

You may elect dental coverage through either a managed care plan, which requires use of a primary care dentist in network; or a standard indemnity plan without requirements for a primary care dentist or network.
