Vaughn believes that every child can learn, and it is a moral obligation to bring this to fruition. Vaughn has been blessed by teaching diverse groups of students in various educational capacities and have had the opportunity to use his background, education, life experiences, and community activism to collaborate and innovate strategies to help students learn.
Research, Accomplishments, and Publications:
Vaughn has published several articles in academic journals and presented scholarly work at conferences, including "The Portraiture of Nick: Scene Two the Middle Years" and "The Portraiture of Nick: Scene One the Early Years," both in the Journal of Case Studies in Education; "The Tide is High: The Moral Reasoning of Teachers in one Western Pennsylvania School District" at the PA Council for Exceptional Children in Harrisburg; "A Highly Effective Special Education Teacher" at the Hawaii International Conference on Education in Honolulu; and "Leaving a Student Behind: The Case of Sam and a Special Education Teacher Leader who Fully Educates Students With Disabilities" at the Pennsylvania Council for Exceptional Children Conference in State College, PA.
His dissertation was titled "The Multicolored Patchwork Portraiture of an Effective Veteran High School Special Education Teacher Amidst the Tempest of the High Stakes Testing Movement."
