Each student-athlete will receive a certificate of participation and a color team picture.

Special Awards

Male and Female Athlete of the Year Award

Awarded to the person with the most successful season or individual performance during the season. The student-athlete should have maintained acceptable academic performance along the way. The award will be given only when there is a deserving candidate.

Male and Female Rookie of the Year Award

Awarded to a freshman athlete who contributed the most to his/her team and whose performance indicates future contributions (including good academic progress). The award will be given only when there is a deserving candidate. Athletes who have used a year of eligibility, i.e., transfer students, or students who have played another sport are not eligible for this award.

Panther Triangle of Success Award

Purpose: The Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports staff may submit the name of one individual from the athletic program or his/her team with a brief statement as to why he/she is deserving of this award. The full-time staff of the department makes the selection. Criteria such as dedication to the sport, attitude, effort, ability, citizenship, character, leadership, and sportsmanship may all be used as criteria for nomination.

Criteria: 1. Student-athlete during academic year awarded

2. Minimum 2.5 QPA

3. Minimum of 12 credit hours completed at Pitt-Bradford Award: 7" x 9" plaque

The award will be given only when there is a deserving candidate.
 
 

Student-Athlete Advisory Council Golden Panther Award

This award was initiated by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council to recognize those individuals outside of the athletic department who have made significant contributions to the Pitt-Bradford athletic program. The nominees must show an interest in all sports, be supportive of both student-athletes and the coaching staff, attend home contests, and recognize student-athletes outside of the traditional sporting arena. Nominations for the Golden Panther Award are accepted from any student-athlete with the Student-Athlete Advisory Council making the final selection. The award will be given only when there is a deserving candidate.
 
 

Female Scholar-Athlete Award

Male Scholar-Athlete Award

Purpose: To honor the female and male student-athlete with the highest QPA. Criteria: 1. Student-athlete during academic year awarded

2. Minimum 3.5 QPA

3. Minimum of 30 credit hours completed at Pitt-Bradford

Award: 8" x 10" plaque

Coaches' Awards

Each coach will be permitted to present two awards at his/her discretion with the approval of the Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports. These awards could be named MVP, most improved, leadership, etc. Requests for additional awards should be made to the Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports.

Award: 6" x 8" plaque

Additional Awards

A coach may recognize, with the approval of the Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports, an individual who has contributed significantly to his/her program.

Any additional awards may be presented by a coach at a team gathering at no cost to the University and as long as the awards remain within conference guidelines.

This program was developed by the athletic director working with the awards/banquet sub-committee of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and approved by the S.A.A.C.

General Guidelines:

Student-athletes must participate in at least 30% of the scheduled games/matches and also finish the season or sport in good athletic and academic standing. Therefore, student-athletes who are academically ineligible or who are suspended from the team for any reason will not be eligible for this program.

Transfer students will be given credit for years played at other institutions provided that they left the institutions in good academic and athletic standing.
