Engineering Major

Program Name: Engineering

Program Designation: B.S.

Program Contact: Dr. Ronald E. Mattis

Academic Division: Physical and Computational Sciences

Program Description:

From your cell phone to your bowl of cereal, almost everything you touch has an engineer behind it. Would you like to be one of those engineers? Would you like to touch the world? Our engineering major will help you get there.

In our program, you’ll learn all kinds of interesting concepts. And, you’ll get to do some pretty neat things. You’ll build a contraption around an egg – yes, an egg. Then you’ll drop it off the roof of Fisher Hall. The idea, of course, is to build the right contraption to keep the egg from breaking.

After you complete 60-72 credits on our campus, you’ll relocate to the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Engineering in Pittsburgh to finish your four-year degree. All you need is a 2.75 grade point average, and you’re guaranteed acceptance in the School of Engineering.

Our engineering graduates work at some pretty interesting places – IBM, Westinghouse, NASA, the U.S. Naval Shipyard – and you can, too.
