Pitt-Bradford Outreach Services and the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to present a five-week Web-based seminar called “Your Business and Marcellus Shale.”
The presentations will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and include a continental breakfast and a 60-minute Webinar followed by a 30-minute discussion moderated by an industry practitioner. The first four sessions will take place in Swarts Hall Room 162. The last one will take place in the Mukaiyama University Room of the Frame-Westerberg Commons.
Topics are “Economic Implications of the Marcellus Shale” on Oct. 14, “Identifying Local Business Opportunities” on Oct. 21, “Success Stories” on Oct. 28, “Preparing Your Business for Success” on Nov. 4 and “Your Business Working with Others” on Nov. 10. The cost for all five breakfast Webinars is $50; the cost of single sessions is $15.
“We wanted to host this series because it was designed specifically for businesses to learn how to take advantage of the increased traffic and influx of dollars resulting from Marcellus shale development in this region,” said Ann Robinson, director of the Business Resource Center at Pitt-Bradford.
Diane Sheeley, executive director of the BACC said, “This five-part Webinar series provides our current businesses and potential entrepreneurs with a unique opportunity to explore the vast range of economic opportunities related to the development ventures in Marcellus shale.”
The Webinars are designed to help entrepreneurs and established small- and medium-sized businesses understand and respond to Marcellus shale-related business opportunities. Sessions will include information about how businesses can establish working relationships with natural gas and service companies.
The series is co-sponsored by a consortium of universities, chambers of commerce, local planning commissions and regional economic development boards from across the commonwealth with leadership from Penn State Cooperative Extension.
